Are you familiar with the book From Good To Great?
Chapter 1 (Good is the Enemy of Great) starts out :
“And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great.”
The book is about how some businesses ‘make the leap’, while so many others languish in mediocrity. So – what does that mean to YOU?
In fact, it applies to personal life as well. If something in your life is horrible/intolerable (you’re married to a psychotic, alcoholic, drug-addicted axe-murderer, for example), then you’ll take action to change that. But if something in your life is, well, ok…
OK will often seem perfectly adequate, and you may never bother going out of your way to make it even better.
So, the question for today is :
What are you settling for in life?
Friends, relationships, job, home, lifestyle, money… Which parts of your life aren’t everything you could possibly dream of? Just something to think about.
My recommendation – put on some music, grab a pen and paper, sit down in a comfy chair, and spend a few minutes thinking about what you would like your life to be like. If only…
Where would you be living?
How would you be spending your time?
Who would you be hanging out with?
How would you be earning money
Write it all down – what would your ‘dream’ life look like? And then – figure out which parts of that you already have (more or less, except that if you were to put your mind to it you could make them better), or COULD have if you decided to take action. And then ask yourself – what are you waiting for?
